Fall in Orlando
By Nigel G. Worrall
Traveling to Orlando in the Fall months of September through early November is pretty much the perfect time to visit this area of the world. The Florida weather is pretty much perfect, while the crowds are smaller and some of the very best vacation deals can be found.
Orlando has so many things to do during this time of year and this is the time of year when Central Florida comes to life with its festivals, concerts and cultural events kicking into high gear. Gone is the searing heat and stifling humidity of the summer and this means you can wander around and relax without worrying about heat exhaustion.
This time of year is great for taking a leisurely stroll at some of Orlando’s scenic outdoor attractions like Harry P. Leu Gardens, Bok Tower Gardens or the Albin Polasek Museum & Sculpture Gardens. Another fabulous thing to do is the Scenic Boat Tour of the beautiful lakes and estates of Winter Park.
Of course, Orlando wouldn’t be Orlando without its world famous theme parks and a trip to Walt Disney World, Sea World or Universal Orlando is so much more pleasurable when you can get around and miss the lines that build in the more popular seasons of Summer and Spring.
Orlando is also becoming known for its food and the lines to get into the most popular restaurants become a thing of the past when you visit in the Fall and you’ll be sure to tickle all your culinary taste buds to the full when visiting some of the finest restaurants on the planet. One event you should be sure not to miss is the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival which takes place during the autumn season and you really do get to sample the world as you walk around World Showcase testing and tasting everything there is to offer.
Also, September is the month for Orlando’s Magical Dining Month where you can savor a culinary celebration Sept. 1-30 with more than 65 Orlando-area restaurants offering three-course prix fixe dinners for just $33.
October is the month of Halloween and you can enjoy the Trick-or-Treat events at some of the biggest spooky bashes in Orlando. Little ones will enjoy hauntingly happy fun during select dates at Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom (September-November), Sea World’s Halloween Spooktacular (October) and for those looking for the ultimate Halloween scare, confront your fears at terrifying magnitudes at Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights (September-October).
The best news of all though is saved for last, as great deals abound at this time of year. Sometimes finding a place to stay can be expensive but Fall season is known as the time to strike a bargain and nowhere is that more clear than staying “home away from home” by renting your own Orlando vacation rental home with Florida Leisure Vacation Homes just minutes from all the action.
So, if snow and cold weather is on your agenda for the Fall this year, maybe Orlando is really the place you want to be.
